Hello, my name is Mélissa…

Hello, my name is Mélissa…

I’m Mélissa Francisco, a committed author of children’s literature, determined to offer children stories that celebrate the history, cultures and ingenuity of Africans and Afro-descendants.

Through my collections Je découvre mon héritage and Je m’inspire, I want to encourage young readers to develop their self-esteem and recognize themselves in characters who reflect their potential. I believe that every child should be able to find themselves in stories where diversity is not only represented, but valued and celebrated.

My writing is guided by a deep conviction: knowing one’s roots and having access to inspiring role models are essential to building confidence and ambition in young people. By sharing these stories, I hope to help shape a world where every child, whatever their background, sees diversity as a strength and an opportunity to excel.

Thank you for taking the time to discover my literary universe. May these stories enrich and illuminate your reading moments!

Born and raised in France, I am of Beninese origin by my father and Malian/Guinean by my mother.

Feeling a deep need to help the Afro-Caribbean community stop seeing their lives through a Western prism, I decided to start writing books for Afro-descendant children.

Allowing our future leaders to know, from a young age, the greatness of their heritage is for me one of the most effective ways to accomplish this mission.

My books are therefore both educational and entertaining, in order to ensure the most efficient learning experience!

And because it is important for me to give back to the community, 10% of the profits from the sales of my books are donated to non-profit organizations operating in the fields of education, health and infrastructure in the Afro-Caribbean populations.
